Castor Connect 2023.1.0.0
Major release date: 20th June 2023 (iOS & Android)
Expanded app security
As of release 2022.3 of Castor Connect, participants will be asked to create a 6 digit PIN and enable native security on their device to access the app. Native security will be the primary method for accessing the app, with the PIN as a back-up. Existing users will be asked to move from the existing security system to the new one, submitting any unsubmitted data directly before moving over.
Clinicians responsible for managing participants on the CDMS will now be able to remotely reset the PIN of a participant when they forget their PIN. Entering a PIN incorrectly 5 times will lock the participant out, and prompt an email to be sent to clinicians to trigger a reset from within the CDMS. Additional details are available in a dedicated article here.
Calculation fields
The library of calculations for mobile survey calculation fields have been updated to be the same as those available for our web surveys - allowing users to share and reuse calculations across both form factors.
In the interests of consistency with our web surveys, users will not be permitted to navigate between pages when a calculation field is running/in progress - and ‘hidden’ calculations will not be displayed within pages.
Additional languages
Lithuanian, Slovak, Romanian and Hungarian are now available as core languages within the app language picker.
Smaller features/changes
- Updated numeric fields to use the appropriate keyboard
- Resolved issue where if a user entered source values for a calculation, triggered that calculation on another page, then returned and edited the source values - the calculation would error and require the participant to restart the survey
- Where there are no surveys to complete and none that have been completed, the ‘completed entries’ header will not display
- Resolved an issue where the app would become stuck in a loop when logging in if the participant had been archived within the CDMS
Castor Connect 2023.1.0.1
Hotfix release date: 14th July 2023 (iOS & Android)
As part of this hotfix release, a small number of improvements and fixes for issues have been added to the app:
- Resolved an issue where, when a date field validation was in use that included the ‘Current date’ configuration - the date entered was not being validated correctly
-
In a previous release we removed automatic-updates of the home screen for all except the first opening of the app per day - this proved confusing for some users, so has been restored
- This may result in slightly slower loading of the home screen for participants on studies with a large number of survey packages in use per participant
- Updated the app to accommodate iOS changes that were intermittently causing notifications to not be sent
- Corrected a typo in the activation flow (English)
Castor Connect 2023.1.0.2
Hotfix release date: 3rd August 2023 (iOS & Android)
As part of this hotfix release, a small number of improvements and fixes for issues have been added to the app:
- Resolved an issue where calculation templates containing multiple variables were failing
Castor Connect 2023.1.1.0
Maintenance release date: 18th October 2023 (iOS & Android)
As part of this maintenance release, a small number of improvements and fixes for issues have been added to the app:
- Resolved an issue where ‘0’ values submitted as part of calculation fields were erroring or preventing a participant from proceeding
Castor Connect 2023.1.1.1
Hotfix release date: 1st November 2023 (iOS & Android)
As part of this hotfix release, a small number of improvements and fixes for issues have been added to the app:
- Resolved an issue where participants recording larger numbers of repeatable or ad hoc survey packages were hitting a hard limit of how many survey packages can be in-app concurrently
Castor Connect 2023.1.1.2
Hotfix release date: 19th November 2023 (iOS & Android)
As part of this hotfix release, a small number of improvements and fixes for issues have been added to the app:
- Resolved an issue where studies using a combination of the ‘alternative file upload' beta feature and repeatable surveys were hitting a limit of how many uploads/images could be uploaded for the same parent repeatable survey package
Note: An issue has been identified where users of the Samsung Galaxy S21 and some other devices are facing intermittent requests to re-activate their apps; in this instance, restarting the device should rectify the issue. We are investigating the cause and will resolve in a subsequent release.
