Can I use calculations in surveys in EDC/CDMS?
Yes, calculations can be used in your surveys. This is done in a similar way to the calculations used in study forms. The survey calculations can only refer to variables within the same survey, and therefore survey calculations cannot reference study or repeated data variables.
You can also use the participant metadata, such as the participant ID and the site in your surveys, if necessary.
When using calculations in surveys, please note that it is not possible:
- To retrieve a field value from one survey into another survey.
- To retrieve a study field value into a survey field.
- To retrieve all survey values into a study field in case several surveys are sent using the same survey package invitation (for example, a daily diary sent throughout a certain period). This will be the field value of the survey package invitation that was created most recently.
If you don't want the respondents to see the results, you can set the calculations to be hidden. The output of the hidden calculations will be included in the export of your survey data.
